150 buyin at inter, 6 seats guar, 410 players
good money added, my first Hasil HK Hari Ini sat ever. 2500 chips to start, blinds move pretty fast. no hands first hour, stayed just about even.
some pretty bad plays got me down to 1500 with blinds 1-200 by 1. KK once early, all fold, had to fold aq on BB. limped a little too often when early; blinds go up quicker here and i limped at too high a cost
lost when cutoff raises minimum and i go allin for 1200 with 99. he reasonably calls with q5 suited and hits a q on the river. oh well. limp less next time.
did manage to win a seat to the stars 500 sunday in a 20 turbo rebuy [first one ever] while playing at inter tho, so not a complete waste of time. played a 109 at JS and a 109 SNG at party, took 3rd in SNG. JS still running, 30 or so to start, in 5th out of 17th.
registered for the 27 turbo to the main stars wsop qualifier. i like turbo rebuys, i think, tho i’m still new to the format. i like anything i win at the first time i play it. running that and my won seat into the ps 500 sunday simult. plus finishing up JS and a 4th steps on party. now that i write that, it seems like too many tournaments, but i guess the JS one is pretty backburner right now.
ahh, made a really bad play with 88 in my steps. reraised a short stack PF who had dink raised. still have some chips, but at 700 and blinds 50-100 i’m in trouble. foolish move, i was sitting on 1300 and could afford to wait a little bit. got it back a hand or two later when all fold to sb and s/he raises my a6 with KQ. my a6 holds up and i steal some blinds to get back to 1600. 15 players left, top 8 get seats to 5th step.
knocked out of JS. blinds went up, my stack went down, then ak lost to a9. poof. oh well. still in steps and rebuy; 500 on starts in 10 minutes. 11 left in the steps and i have 2k at the break. if i outlast one more person, i get my buyin back at least. Seems easy enough! [oh-so famous last words, i know]. break and addon just came at stars; 22 spots pay the seat to the m ain wsop qualifier tonight and i’m in 73 out of 181 currently.
qualed on the steps. happy little victory, free seat into the 5th steps. i celebrated by playing JJ horribly in the ps 500 and burning off 600 chips. then i bluffed off 1200 chips in the rebuy. yippie. as if to reward me for terrible play, AA next hand in rebuy, i double through and am sitting 49/139.
knocked out of rebuy in about 100th. JJ vs A9, flop comes two aces, all done. can’t complain about that, since my all in luck has been fairly good today, but still a bit of a drag, as i think if i win that hand i can hold on to the money. now the question is whether or not i buy directly into the stars wsop qualifier. hmmm. about an hour to decide.
running another 109 SNG and registered for the 50+5 multi at party. about 400 players in that one. still hanging around in the stars 500.
check that, doubled through in the stars 500, so now, of course, i’m leaning toward buying in directly to the wsop qualifier [hey, i’m running good, why not? lol]. it looks like top 12 or so will get seats. i am racking up a pretty impressive entry fee bill with little to show so far, though. one 3rd place in a SNG and freerolls into the 5th step and the stars 500 are what i have to show for about 1k in entries. i guess it could be a lot worse.
if i were to ever get a poker coach, it would be for multis. i know enough to know that i am doing something horribly wrong at some point, but i can’t quite put my finger on what that something is. maybe i’m too loose early, or too passive when the blinds hit a critical point. i do exit near the bubble a whole lot. perhaps i’ll try pushing people around more near the bubble in this upcoming 100 9 NL on party…. i think i’ve decided to buy in directly to the wsop qualifier. at the first break in the ps 500: T4840, good for 139th out of 941.
tough break in the 500 – i flop top two with j10 and get KK all in. board underpairs on turn and i get knocked back down to 3k. good cards come in the SNG and i win. 100 9 just starting, wsop about to start.
wsop starts with 300 players, 16 get seats. 5th steps is starting as well, stars 500 and party 100 and 50 NL going too. far too many tournaments, and it shows when i almost immediately burn off 1k chips in the wsop qualifier. kq vs a3, he hits trips, i flop top pair and turn flush draw. back on 6k chips in the 500 NL. a few hands later JJ holds up against an shortstack’s AK and i get to 8.5k. not much of anything happening in the three party tournaments, just sort of floating at original chip count in all of them.
and i’m out of the wsop qualifier. oh well. i flop a straight with k 10, another player flops trip jacks, we get all in, they turn the boat. if i hadn’t blown off chips earlier, i’d still be playing, but instead i’m out at 262. so far my wsop qualifying attempts have been miserable failures, to put it charitably. still 4 more tournaments to pay attention to, so time to shake it off, etc.
make that 3 tournaments. in the 109, my aa goes down to 88 when 88 flops a set [all in preflop]. i was a short stack, so no big deal. hanging on in steps, 1500 with 12 left, and on slightly above average stack in both the 50 NL and the 500 NL, neither anywhere near the money.
make that 2 tournaments. AQo calls my 77 reraise preflop and flops an ace to knock me out of the 500 in 320th place. i have a good stack in the 50 tho, and still alive in the steps, albeit barely, hanging on to 7th place. guess i should’ve stuck to the SNG’s, because i can’t make anything happen in multi today.
make that one tournament. but at least this interjection has a happy ending – i pulled out a 1st in the 5th step two table, making the day pretty worthwhile and my pseudo-hand wringing above a bit overly dramatic sounding.
i’m still not sure why i play multis, but the win today will pay for a bunch more. still in the 50 NL with a little under 10k.
